Our Community Benefits Agreement:

A MODEL FOR INCLUSIVE, RESPONSIBLE, AND EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Sixers plan to invest $50 million towards a Community Benefits Agreement, the largest in the history of Philadelphia. The Community Benefits Agreement will ensure communities can benefit from the project.  Benefits could include economic opportunity for communities of color, upgrades to safety and cleaning services, partnerships with local businesses, and anti-displacement programs.

BASED ON COMMUNITY FEEDBACK, A CBA COULD INCLUDE:

Support Future Priorities, Prevent Displacement, and Preserve Community

Here are some of the things we can achieve with a CBA:

Residential affordability

  • Support the acquisition of land
  • Invest in or develop affordable housing projects
  • Preserve existing affordable units
  • Fund legal support for tenants
  • Support the creation of a community land trust

Small Business Support

  • Invest in support programs to provide grants or loans
  • Create a business loyalty points program
  • Dedicate portion of on-site concession opportunities for local businesses
  • Commitment to hire local suppliers for the arena

Cultural heritage And Preservation

  • Youth sports and education
  • Festivities, gatherings, and parades
  • Arts and culture organizations
  • Public space and recreation

Safety, security, and cleanliness

To increase safety in the surrounding neighborhoods, we can:

Fund safety ambassadors

Upgrade street and pedestrian lighting

Install new security cameras

Fund daily street cleaning

Build a security substation in the mall
